Update Time

3 min read
It's been a while since I last updated my journal! I went through the craziest journey since I uploaded my first work here.
I finished my studies as a graphic designer, started studing japanese (passed the N5 JLPT exam!) and working in Wunderman BA for United Airlines. I used to dream of working as a digital artist, but jobs of the sort here in Argentina are little to non-existent, plus my career and responsibilities absorb much of my time and energy. It takes a lot of effort for me to finish one single illustration, and I keep doing it out of love.

Life in this country is very bitter. I got to realize just how dirty the streets are and how aggressive the people can be after my trip to Japan in February. Until then I guess it was partially natural for me, but getting to see for myself true politeness and respect from the masters, made the contrast really stand out.

It was very tough. I grew tired of unkept promises from unbearable smiling politicians while hunger, poverty and violence grow bigger each passing day. Some crimes here are so horrible they make you wonder how can a human being become such a monster. The cries for justice hammer in my head from time to time. There's no justice in Argentina.
While singing the National Anthem in my graduation ceremony, I felt so immensely heartbroken I almost started to cry from the front row. It may sound really, really stupid but since I started playing God of War not that long ago, I heard Kratos' voice in my desperate attempt to stop the tears, and recalled that one time when he tried to comfort a torn Atreus and told him not to feel. And it worked for me (I never told anyone any of this).

Deleting the news from my everyday life made it considerably better. I only search for information I really need, and that's it.
Now my next move has become my greatest goal: leaving. And living somewhere better. Thankfully in this journey I'm not alone! I have my amazing and loving boyfriend by my side :iconfacundodiaz:

With a bit of luck, we'll be leaving together someday (◕‿◕✿) fingers crossed, and CVs sent!

Conclusions

4 min read
I returned home a couple of days ago. I'm really happy, I've been waiting for a long time to visit the United States; and as far as I got to know and visit, I can tell it's a great country. I had a lot of fun. Florida is a very beautiful state, totally worth visiting.

I wanted to make a list of some punctual conclusions I made, so here it is:

- Key West is fantastic. I only spent a day and a half there, it has beautiful bars and beautiful streets (full of cats and roosters!).
- Orlando is incredible.
But Disney World isn't (in my opinion) THAT fantastic. It was actually a disappointment. Magic Kingdom was... bleh. Almost 50% of the park consists in stores and restaurants, and the rides and stuff were too light (except for Space Mountain, that was great). I know it was all designed for the kids but still... it's kinda full of weirdos, there's an important ammount of people going around in scooters (but we only saw them in this place in particular) and people eating meat with their hands and a bit too much enthusiasm (in words of my mother, as a vegetarian I'm super glad I didn't notice their presence xD).
Epcot was so much better, I congratulate the gardeners. It's full of trees, flowers and... ducks lol (YES) everywhere, and the attractions were meant for all ages. Something we really enjoyed.
And Universal Studios is just CRAZY. I loved those parks, I went through all the roller coasters, and had great fun there. During the night that place is a delight, I highly recommend it.
- Miami is a nice city. We didn't like it as much as the previous locations, but still we spent cool days there.

- BIKERS, bikers EVERYWHERE excited happy
My father told me that americans had TRUE motorcycles but wow, they are sooooo damn cool. Lana del Rey passed on me the love, they showed up and I just stood there watching their jackets, their bandanas and choppers like an idiot.
- And LOTS of US flags everywhere as well. Their pride and their love for their country is super tangible all the time. I felt jealous and sad about this matter, I wish I could feel that proud of my own country too, but things are as messed up as they could possibly be right now in Argentina...
- I even miss the traffic signs. Everything everywhere looks brand new, clean and very, very well maintained.
- We met very nice people. The latin americans working around made us feel really comfortable speaking in spanish. There were some americans that offered to speak in our language to make things easier for us, specially because we were surrounded by new new new, new stores, new streets, names and totally unknown stuff, I appreciate a lot that aid.
- We met surly individuals too, but just a few. I left the US with a good impression of the people.
- The radios keep playing, dozens, countless times: "Burn" (Ellie Glouding) "Dark Horse" and "Roar" (Katy Perry) "Radioactive" (Imagine Dragons) "The story of my life" (One Direction) "Counting Stars" (OneRepublic... damn, they are OBSESSED with that one XD) "Let her go" (Passenger)
- Pizza Hut is a temptation impossible to avoid ;_; I wish we had it here too :c sadly, eat in a restaurant and watch you wallet cry. As a visitor, go to the supermarket and cook in the hotel if you want the best survival option.
(I saw a guy in front of one Pizza Hut in Miami Beach with his laptop, playing League of Legends. That was kinda cool I guess! and risky! it was during the night, guts.com).
- Lots of channels in spanish and signs both in english and spanish, in the beginning that surprised me but as time went by and met more and more and more latin immigrants or latin visitors (and as a southern state) that made uh great sense lol
- No matter where you look in Miami, up or down, or even inside your hotel you'll see a palm tree I GUARANTEE it WAAA??? plz !

I loved my holidays, I loved Florida and I'm hoping to visit California soooomeday, it's been an unfulfilled dream since I was 17 ;_;

Trip to the US!

2 min read
I've never been in North America before, and I'll be traveling to Florida in 3 weeks! I'm very, very excited :) I voted for a trip to California but I had no quorum at home. Nevertheless, I believe this state is very worth visiting! and even if I got to stop learning English lots of years ago when I started studying Graphic Design, I dedicated even more years to learn this language (11, since I was 7 years old). Time to make some teachers err, proud! I hope!

I traveled a lot during my life but it's been 2 years since I went on my last trip: I switched from one job to another on holidays' season last year, and I've been terribly tired over the last months. I need this, so badly.

Buying stuff in Argentina is tough, everything may be cheap for tourists but for residents the story is waaayy too different. I'm planning to take advantage of my visit to the United States and spend nearly all my savings on a good Wacom tablet, and on an artbook from God of War Ascension that drives me NUTS every time I take a look at it online. It's like... the most beautiful thing ever? damn!

I'll be visiting Key West, Orlando and Miami  :la:
If anyone knows about nice places to visit in any of these cities, please share your knowledge! and any data about comic book stores where I can find videogame artbooks like this baby, would be an ultimate-great-superb help from the GODS (I'm using Mr. Search Button, but everything I find is merely related to comics).

Some days ago I recieved a message from the community manager of GameSpot, offering me to be featured in a section called Artist Arcade. I was having a bad day, entered DeviantART and was like... "a message? that's unusual".

And then I, ugh, DIED.

Thank you. SO. Much. Synthia :') happiness overloaded! :squee:

During December the 31th I made my first drawing of Elizabeth, from Bioshock Infinite. I happened to know about an art-contest Dark Horse Comics was making of this game... about 24 hours before it was over (the deadline was on March the 21th).

I was spending some days in the capital with my grandparents. Went all the way to my house where the .psd and the tablet were. I was sick, I was tired, it was raining, I traveled during the night. Sigh... bloody cinematographic.

I started editing the next day. A couple of panic attacks struck :nuu: I almost cried, I thought I wouldn't make it... no kidding, I had a bad time :C and I had to travel back to the capital because classes begun that same day! even less time available.

By 10 pm I was back at my grandparents' house. I finished editing the hands and the leaves with a mouse. Slept 3 hours and went to work the next day. Now that's LOVE.

I didn't win but this offer did come! I don't even know how, I wasn't expecting this at all.

But there she is in GameSpot! GYAH! :la:

2013!

1 min read
Last year I improved a lot in my drawings.
One of my wishes for every single new year is to be better, and better. This is what I LOVE to do, what I loved doing my whole life ^^
I'll work very hard to have an excellent piece by the end of 2013, a result of lots of lessons and learning.

I'm really happy with "Elizabeth" :) and during 2012 I had so, so little time... I worked a lot, I studied a lot (well, that signature is about web design, I didn't literally "study"... but those months were challenging as heeeell!); still managed to draw, whenever I had the chance.

There's a long way to go, for all of us! we never stop learning and that's awesome! happy new year everybody! peace! :happycry:
